Nortel Networks (NT) 7.17 -0.23 (-3.1%): In a late-day note, Merrill Lynch says that indicators pointing to a weak Dec qtr "continue to pile up" (i.e. warnings by LU, CIEN, SLR, MOT, JDSU, etc), which could cause company to lower guidance for 2002; firm estimates Q4 rev of $3.6 bln but would not be surprised by results of $3.0 bln.
