Nice try, but it just shows that you cannot argue your position. It does not matter if foreigners hold our bonds or stocks. In fact, for most of our history, other countries have financed a good deal of our growth. For example, the railroads were largely built with British capital. If the Japanese wanted to finance our military build- up, I say more power to them! We benefit by deferring payment, and thus not diverting too many resources away from the civilian economy; they benefit by having a hedge in their portfolios; and the world benefited by the collapse of the Soviet Empire.......
