Thanks, Dlphc, sounds like we're on the same wavelength, although there is nothing wrong with buying a stock in this market for a short term trade under the right circumstances. For instance, I'd considering the strongest stock in a hot daily sector especially if it has pulled back to important support, like a lower Bollinger band or 50day MA (and has a history of holding there in the past).

GSPN might be an example of that today.

Also, of course, a strong stock that has broken to new highs on increasing volume in a strong sector or market is always worth considering.

In other words, Harding seems to be saying to not even bother to do ANYTHING for a few weeks. That's a little too pat (and not much fun...lol!). But I sure agree with his basic macro-thinking.

Again, I would be especially interested in short term purchases if we got a decent pullback in quality stocks followed by some unexpected favorable news, like a stimulus bill or bin laden capture. That ought to be a very powerful combo for quick gains and not outside the realm of possibilty before the end of the year.
