There has to be consolidation to get rid of the rotting debt ridden dying companies, but it also strengthens the position of those who are left in trying to gain price cuts from the equipment suppliers.

I think Armstrong has learned his lesson on big debt and he's probably going to be more careful spending this time. I think that hlit does a good amount of work for T. If so, I guess you could watch that stock to see how the market is responding to the deal. And I think there was some rumor of cien getting a contract at T. Never heard they got it, so maybe now they can get it signed.

How much of the backbone is completed and what is the time frame for adding to it?

As for the Msft/Aol pissing contest. I hate it almost as much as the Sebl/Orcl war of words (at least these two didn't end up in court).
