For the next five years, Compaq will manage Ericsson's existing IT resources and provide additional Compaq Computing on Demand services at an increased number of Ericsson sites in Sweden. The extension is worth a total of US $200 million. Computing on Demand combines Compaq's strengths in technology -- servers, storage, wireless handheld devices, and PCs -- with Compaq Global Services architecture, management, and support capabilities, giving enterprise customers increased flexibility and control over the design, management, and cost of their IT infrastructure. Compaq will take responsibility for a significant part of Ericsson's IT infrastructure including asset management of hardware, services, operations and support of PC workstations and printers at Ericsson sites in Sweden, including the company headquarters. The contract also includes associated financial services provided by Compaq Financial Services, a Compaq subsidiary.
