Gustave, your distain of the US is a little insulting. Where would Belgium be if it wasn't for us, a protectorate of Nazi Germany's? You and your children would be doing the goosestep and wishing that you had the freedom to say what you felt like, instead of posting your opinions all over these boards. The US, warts and all, stands for freedom. The best thing that could happen to this world is if every country adopts a constitution and democracy like the US. Then the world wouldn't have quite the mess it has now constantly. Systematically, as countries have westernized and adopted democracies, they have become more prosperous and peaceful. Countries who resist usually are ruled by leaders who only think about their own power and wealth, not that of the people. If all those Islamic countries were to become protectorates of the US then they'd gain greater freedoms and wealth than anything they could dream of now (and I'm not talking about the rulers, but the common people). Look at Bahrain. When people are given a voice, they are given the power to improve their own economics. When their voice is stifled, they get poor and desperate. For good examples, pick any of your most prominent Middle Eastern countries who are ruled by Islamic parties. Those countries are still in the Medieval Ages. What a waste.
