Is it the same morality that applies to people who are dying of cirrhosis of the liver or
lung cancer or obesity? Those are self-inflicted diseases as well.

Yes, sometimes these diseases are self-inflicted. My only point was that AIDS is by and large self-inflicted, while being more easily avoided. Of course those who die from it may "go to heaven".

So when a young person dies in a car crash because he was driving too fast, you'd be there saying that boy's going to burn in hell because he killed himself. Personally, I'd say, the boy was young and foolish (as so many young people are) and I hope he is happy in heaven.

I agree that he was young and foolish and obviously, would be happy in heaven depending on the lifestyle he had led. If he had raped/murdered in his life, his reward may not be so pleasant. Many times we hear stories about such foolish traffic deaths and we sadly think, "What a waste of a young life." We would not react with the same emotion, however, if he killed someone else with his recklessness.

The HIV infected person who dies because he/she contacted the disease with no fault of their own, is indeed a sad situation. Babies, women who are raped, etc. are innocent victims of the diseased person. But anyone who has unprotected sex, is indiscriminately promiscuous, shares needles...is not only responsible for his disease and possible death but may be responsible for the death of others. That is criminal and immoral.
