Jane, From the conference call:

Mirant sees 10-15 percent growth after 2002
December 20, 2001 08:46:00 AM ET

NEW YORK, Dec 20 (Reuters) - Power producer and energy marketer Mirant Corp. (MIR) expects earnings per share to increase at an average rate of 10 percent to 15 percent in the five years after 2002, Chief Financial Officer Ray Hill said on Thursday.

Speaking to analysts on a conference call, he said the company's new 2002 earnings forecast of $2.00 to $2.10 per share is based on about $110 million less net income that the company had seen before Thursday's announcement of steps to improve its balance sheet and liquidity.

The new forecast also includes the dilution expected from the sale of 40 million common shares announced earlier on Thursday, Hill said.

The expected 10 percent to 15 percent annual earnings per share growth will be on top of 2002's $2.00 to $2.10 per share, he added. REUTERS
