Some of the $2.73 may be because the SEC has threatened today to actually require companies to fess up to investors about the real costs of stock options, and Microsoft will be hurt by that. Not that I trust Harvey Pitt to do anything that might make any accountants clean up their acts, but this one act might be real, as a sort of nod to all of those who are accusing him of being deep in the pockets of the accounting profession.
