Negative. What is being measured is Real Wealth (inflation adjusted)... asset (and other wealth) accumulation... not merely income.

In fact it makes the point that simply having a very high income is not real wealth if one has a correspondingly high spending pattern.

The point drawn from the statistics, is that the U.S. is becoming more wealth 'top heavy' than any other major nation on Earth. The conclusions you draw from that are your own, but it is certainly a change from our egalitarian history.
