Surprise, I'm not convinced of this. I mean, it's scarcely as if the French love their local Algerians and Moroccans! So what is the cause?

Not to be stereotyping, but I thought it was a given that the French are equal opportunity.... haters, because everyone else is beneath them.

I over-generalize, but trying to come up with a list of who the French like, I can only think of Jerry Lewis.

Maybe the French and the British decided that the Israelis were to hot to handle and decided to let the Americans take the heat of supporting Israel. I beginning to think that the French stopped their arm sales to Israel, to force the Americans to take their place (replacing France as Israel's major source of military hardware).

Because of all the arms that the Soviets were funneling into the region (the late 60s and early 70s), the French and British probably didn't have the military-industrial weight to insure Israel's defense needs anyway.
