I don't think you can trade this market on these traditional fundamental ratios - you haven't since 1996, the U.S. market is defintitely in a fundamental bubble, but also is in a central position of power and presense in world politic, and may be worth the premium and more, the 2000 internet bubble was similar and much different than japan 89.

the bubble was not all inclusive like 89 or 29 US and include all stocks and real estate, in 1989 the value of a few square acreas around the imperial palace were equal to all california real estate.

i don't think it is realistic right now to think of despair in the terms of 1982 despair at an 8 p/e ratio.

IMO, I think it completely unrealistic to expect to buy the U.S market at this kind of level in the near future, maybe after a decade of churn.
