Hi Mac, The Bush administration was initially talking about
having the International system (IMF etc) not bail out all
of these sovereign debt defaults to bring some sense of
prudence back into the lenders. Who would lend money or buy
emerging market debt, picking up a nice interest yield and
then look to the IMF, the FED etc for protection, if a
default became possible.
