One thing to keep in mind, Techie. Enron goes straight to the core of American politics: Retirees, widows, destitute children. Our dul(l)y elected representatives have just been unleashed on their home turf for the holiday break, and you can be sure that plenty of great hay will be made.

The hearings of last week were just a preview of coming attractions. These guys will go back to D.C. in January full of piss, vinegar, and worried constituents' comments. It won't matter that Enron was a first rate hose job, or that Dynegy and Duke and Calpine aren't Enron. Our beloved leaders will establish a system of oversight for the industry that will not only prevent them from being as stupid (devious?) as Enron, it will keep them from doing their jobs in a highly profitable manner. Regardless of market conditions.

You heard it here first. JMHO. YMMV. BWTFDIK? HAND.
