Of more interest is the fighting between Hamas and the PA Police in Gaza; any serious move by Arafat against Hamas would spark off internecine fighting; this fighting shows that he has at least begun to get serious, as opposed to the mere play-acting he has done until now. But all bets still say that Arafat will spark two days of fighting, do some back-room deal with Hamas to get them to hush up for the moment, then demand payment from the Western Powers for his good behavior.

Staged gun battle. Off the record, I wonder if they agreed not to shoot to kill each other, permitting wounds only.

Sounds unreal? So do suicide bummers. Arafat is all hat; I've seen no hair yet.
