Yes, there can be no doubt that kicking butt in Afganistan has made other potential mischief makers pause to reconsider. I also understand that it is right and necessary for the commander in chief to express anger at the enemy and demonstrate confidence in our abilities and mission.

In the two posts you reference I was making a subtle distinction between our real and our imagined fears. The 911 event was real and also showed that we have real enemies. Those real enemies are being dealt a severe setback, this should ease our real fears.
The trouble comes in the imagined fears. The vauge threats and unknown shadows. These are being heightened. Whether by intent or lack of skill the imagined fears are beginning to create more damage than the real enemies.
