That mean I get 40 points? If so, let's change the bet to one share of BRKa.

Re Garcia, he's been pretty bad for the last few weeks. Even Rattay can win if the Niner D-Fence shows up. Just ask any Doll-Fan, or read Tom Oates comments:

49ers rush finally strikes gold

If you're an upcoming 49ers opponent, San Francisco's last two games have probably thrown a bit of a scare into you.

The 49ers pass rush, which all season was considered the missing link on an otherwise strong team, is starting to show up.

After getting only 15 sacks in the first 11 games, the 49ers have recorded 10 sacks in the last two. Led by young, speed-rushing defensive ends Andre Carter and Chike Okeafor, the 49ers are finally putting consistent heat on opposing quarterbacks.

Carter, the rookie first-round draft pick from Cal and a season-long starter, has 2.5 sacks in the last two games. Okeafor, a situational player forced into the lineup because John Engelberger was hurt, had 2.5 sacks in Sunday's 21-0 win over the Dolphins.

San Francisco's improved pressure has led to an increase in takeaways. The 49ers have forced 16 turnovers, including 12 interceptions, in the last four games.

"Those are two areas we were talking about trying to improve on," coach Steve Mariucci said. "Over the last handful of games, we are as good as anybody in the league, which is very encouraging. You need to finish the season like that."

Mariucci has statistics on his side. After nine games, the 49ers ranked last in the NFL in sacks with 12 and next-to-last in takeaways with 11. Four games later, they've got 25 sacks and 26 takeaways. No wonder the 49ers have shut out two of their last three opponents.

"I just really love the way our defense is flying around," Mariucci said.

Just in time for the playoffs, too.
