The US media does not give a shit what the public thinks

I would not say that goes for all, but for only 98%... I have had my own personal dealings with the press, twice with reporters of national newspapers leading to publication of stories I sent their way, and the way they twisted facts to their own objectives was breathtaking in its arrogance. The truth is by and large irrelevant unless it is a "truth" that particular intrepid journalist agrees with. It's truly pathetic and sickening, really, when you experience it firsthand. Ever since, I have not trusted a single word I have read in a newspaper or heard on television.

If you want an example of media dishonesty, just switch on CNBC during market hours. I wonder how many of you know that CNBC actually owns part of the stock market? Oh yes, when last publicly disclosed, it held an 11.3% stake in Archipelago, LLC, which was just handed exchange status. Guess that does not influence their throughly professional, unbiased and objective reporting a wee bit?

p.s.: Glad we agree :-).

>It all boils down to money<

Everything in the States boils down to money. Try getting a quadruple bypass in the US without $50K in your pocket.

>(now that brunett on CNN deserves a million $$-- a beauty!)<

I am more partial to the blond. Her first day was 9/11 and she worked 48 hrs without sleep. Looks great without makeup.
