Earlie,

Sounds like you research is right on. While waiting in line at the bank yesterday one of the young women was telling me she had a lot of friends that were layed off or getting layed off.

Honeywell is closing plants in the city and these are significant closings. One of the plants is a chip manufacturer ..shutting down ...everyone out the door ..building empty. This plant did a lot of special design chip business internally to Honeywell as well as outside customers. Evidently they could not sell the business to anyone!!!!

Our unemployment is below the national average .. so far.

My daughter sells into the advertising departments in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She has seen a decline but not by much. She has Best Buy, Target, Fingerhut, Hormel, etc. type of accounts and these guys are going full steam ahead. She did say the Fingerhut group got funding for half of what they requested. I think they are owned by Federated.

FWIW, I have been getting cold calls from my brokerage houses as well as other houses. I never get these type of calls. The brokers are telling me I have to move money into growth funds. I looked at some of their recommendations and they are mostly in the tech area. This must be the Wall Street campaign to get on the train before it leaves the station. <ggg>

I have been looking over the stock market thinking that some stocks should be ignored and getting cheap with all the money chasing trash in the high tech sector. I am having problems finding anything that is cheap these days. Are you aware of any sector that is being ignored?
