Shows how the market has changed. $20 for a company that had very little compared to now.

YAMANA RESOURCES INC
("YRI-T;YMNAF-0") - Martha
Update; Drilling Results
Continue To Add High-Grade -
Resources

Yamana Resources Inc.
announces that mining at Mina
Martha has been temporarily
suspended pending an evaluation
of recent drilling results and the
development of a new mining
plan to exploit the remaining ore
and additional resources
discovered. Surface operations
will continue to sort and bag
existing inventories of broken ore
until about mid November, by
which time all material mined will
have been shipped.

Including shipments forecast in
November, 3,870 tonnes
containing 1.8 million ounces of
equivalent silver will have been delivered to the smelter since start-up. This compares with 5,000 tonnes containing approximately 3.2
million ounces of equivalent silver in the original Phase I development plan.

During September, a 16 hole drilling program confirmed existing resources in Pocket 1 and added new resources in Pocket 3. During
October, underground activities concentrated on the development of two new zones for future mining. These programs produced the
following results:

* Pocket 1 West

* Confirmed a resource of 440 tonnes containing 354,000 ounces of

equivalent silver for a grade of 804 ounces of equivalent

silver/tonne.

* Further to the west, deeper and outside of the above resource area

were drill intercepts of:

* 0.5 meters of 744 oz silver/tonne (gold assays pending)

* 0.5 meters of 388 oz silver/tonne (gold assays pending)

These have not been reflected in the confirmed resource.

* Pocket 3 East

* Seven drill holes east of the original resource area have

extended it 20 meters to the east and down to 30 meters; adding

2,585 tonnes containing 1,010,000 ounces of silver (gold assays

pending).

* Continuation of drifts 15 meters to the west and 15 meters to the

east of Pockets 1 and 3 respectively have prepared new areas for

mining.

Current resource estimates at Mina Martha, beyond material mined and shipped, now total 4,993 tonnes @ an average grade of 428
ounces of equivalent silver/tonne for 2,134,000 contained ounces of equivalent silver. About 600,000 of these ounces are contained in
pillars and remnants left behind by the mining contractor. These may not be immediately mineable without creating future access
problems to new resources.

A further drill program is now in process. This is designed to extend further to the east the new resources already established east of
Pocket 3.

Discussions continue with Yamana's project lender with respect to refinancing alternatives including the potential to bring in an industry
partner. The existing project loan matures on December 31, 2001.

Yamana Resources Inc. is a Canadian public company in production at its Martha Mine and with substantial additional land holdings in
Santa Cruz Province, Argentina.
