Exactly! What an incredible farce! I really feel sorry for all those people who are just pawns in a very stupid game. I truly wish that the Middle East will move towards democratizaion of their governments and separate their religious beliefs from the gov't so they can become more peaceful and more a part of the world community. They're stuck in the dark ages with rulers that think nothing of the prosperity and health of their own people. Yes, even Saudi Arabia, the supposed Arab ally of the U.S. That royal family needs to be ousted and a true democracy should take its place. That's also a good example of bad US foreign policy - choosing short term stability over the long term good of the people.

If there is any one failure of the U.S. government, it's that our leaders are elected only for such short time periods. This does protect us from allowing rulers to become too entrenched, but it makes it so that we only think about solutions for the short term. I wish it was possible to have a longer institutional memory and a longer term planning horizon, so that all countries could receive the blessings of prosperity and peace like the U.S. has in its homelands. Ah well. So much for my wishlist. It's an unrealizable dream.
