IRAQI DEFECTOR WARNS OF UP TO 20 WEAPONS SITES December 22, 2001

Reuters reports: “An Iraqi defector who described himself as a civil engineer said he had helped renovate secret facilities for biological, chemical and nuclear weapons in private villas, wells and under a Baghdad hospital as recently as a year ago.
Government experts said he had been interviewed twice by U.S. intelligence officials who were trying to verify his claims. The experts said his information seemed reliable and significant.

Last month President Bush said Saddam should let weapons inspectors back into Iraq. When asked what would happen if he refused, Bush said: `He'll find out.'

Saeed, who escaped from an Iraqi prison last summer after being arrested on what he said were trumped-up fraud charges, said several of the production and storage facilities were hidden in the rear of government companies and private villas, or underground in structures built to look like water wells…”
