"The unthinkable has already occurred.

The 1.6GHz Athlon XP (1900+) is selling on PriceWatch for $246, while the 1.6GHz P4 for is selling for $152. This is a clear testimony of P4's IPC flaccidity."

Holy smokes...The 1.6 GHz Athy does command a 60% premium over the 1.6 gig P4...No wonder INTC is tripping over themselves in trying to jack up the P4 MHz...Gives new insight, for me anyway, to Mr. Sander's characterization of the P4 as a "dud"...

"You have to learn to trade against you own emotions"

Thank you for reigning in my trading enthusiasm...I do have a system and, though I have utilised it for 20 plus years, emotional trades do still surface from time to time...and emotional trades more often than not have proven costly!!!

Once again, awesome that the unthinkable has already occurred...a 50% premium...astounding...

Gotta say it...With AMD product now commanding a hefty premium, can it be long before AMD share price also commands a hefty premium???

Kap, If Europe goes hugely for AMD, then Dell will be shut out of europe sharewise. Thus there will be pressure on Dell for AMD parts, at least in Europe?

The "blue men and the orange pipes" are just no match for "the new kind of fast"

I just noticed that the 1.26 GHz P3 is priced the same as the 1.9 GHz P4 at $251...Corporate America is faced with the purchasing decision of paying usurious pricing for P3's or converting to a "second fiddle" or "dud" processor in the p4...No wonder INTC had to shut down the North American channels of distribution to AMD...If Athy XP's were currently offered by the North American corporate OEM's, INTC would have zero chance of succeeding in the P3 to P4 transition without HUGE slippage to Athy XP...No matter,as you have pointed out, the P4's IPC flaccidity, ensures that over the longer term, not even the AMD stonewalling by corporate OEM's will succeed in keeping superior technology, the Athy XP, out of the North American board room...
