People who buy 1.26 GHz P3's are the same people who bought 820 RDRAM boards for their coppermines. As Lincoln said: "You can fool some of the people all of the time".

Dan3:

"Re: I just noticed that the 1.26 GHz P3 is priced the same as the 1.9 GHz P4 at $251..."

"Yikes!"

YIKES, again...The 1.2 GHz Athy is priced at $90, some $160 less expensive than the 1.26 GHz P3. or looking at it another way, the 1.2 GHz Athy, which most would agree is benchmark compatible with the 1.26 GHz P3, is one-third the price of the P3...

It would seem that INTC's marketing strategy is based upon the presentation of "straw dog" pricing of the P3 (i.e usurious, when compared to the equivalent Athy pricing)in effort to convince the corporate world that P4 is an irresistable bargain...In effort to meet with any degree of success in this "straw dog" marketing, two things must occur: AMD (and their Athy at 1/3 the cost) must be kept out of any presentation (i.e: N/A corporate channels of distribution must be shut down at any/all cost) and the boardroom decision makers must either be wholly naive or encouraged(incentives anyone???) to keep mum about such a transparent "straw dog" marketing model...

In any event, this "panic driven" "straw dog" marketing sham is destined to fall off the cliff owing to, as kap has pointed out, the P4's IPC flaccidity...

The P4 and its "blue men with their orange pipes" is just no match for "the new kind of fast"...
