Is there some way of paying a stock dividend which actually has real economic value to the shareholder? If the shares are new, the payment is a stock split. If the shares already exist in the company treasury, then the shareholders already own them. It seems to me that the only way to increase shareholder value is for the management to distribute their privately owned shares without compensation. This is as good an idea as it is improbable. -g-
