Steve there are no "palestinian arabs" they are plain arabs expelled from their communities or plain arab migrant working families who arrived from neighboring countries. The PLO are nothing more than an terrorist umbrella organization headed by master hideous terrorist Arafat supported by all those hating Jews were ever they are.......... including the US What is now Israel and Jordan was a desolate place for hundreds and hundreds of years since the times of Abraham. That is why he settled in those places in the first place. At the time the country side was doted with few settlements or cities at the time and the rest was wasteland. Even the Philistines were in 3 or 4 cities on the sea only - Ashkelon, what is now Tel Aviv, and maybe what is now Acre. During ancient times nor Babylion, Persia, Egypt or even Alexander the Great saw any good in those lands and it was more of a land passage between the two center of power in what is now Iraq / Iran and Egypt.
