I'm not a big fan of artichokes.
There are still plenty of farmstands in Suffolk County
the eastern 1/2 of Long Island but they're 30 minutes away
and I don't know of any that sell organic and/or unsprayed
produce. I'm gonna miss Joanne and her produce big time.
Her lettuce is unsprayed. The heads are 50% bigger than the
supermarkets for the same price. Her corn was flat out the
best I ever had and she'd let me cut the line to buy corn.
A few times a week I'd just put a buck on the counter and
leave with 3 while the people on line did a double take.
Even though she closes this week I'll be nibbling on her
food for a while. I got a couple of dozen kale plants
growing that I bought as seedlings from her last spring.
When they flower this spring I'll try to salvage some of
the seeds.
