big law firms are crying.still, they pay kids out of law school who know nothing $125,000 their first year. Last year they got $50,000 bonuses. This year they are getting $25,000 bonuses if they are lucky. the law firms were hit by 9/11. there was a lot of talk of big layoffs and no bonuses. there haven't been that many layoffs and most are giving bonuses- albeit much smaller than last year. a number of big firms have average earnings per partner of well over one million dollars. there are a growing number of firms with over 1,000 lawyers.
