I did not say I was a U.S. citizen. I AM an American citizen, but as I stressed to Dithers, we are human beings first, civilized people second, western society third, and so on.
I have never said I was a U.S. citizen, and anyone who says I did is a LIAR!! THat makes you and Dithers both liars for intentionally, knowingly, and with contrived planning, misrepresenting what I said. I apologised on BEHALF of decent people everywhere, and I chose words that could be used by Dithers in acknowledgement that the apology was a template for his usage as a U.S. citizen. I very distinctly said "ON BEHALF OF" as opposed to "AS A CITIZEN". I could have said "AS A" and still been in the right, as it was a "repeat after me" template; however, I intentionally and thoughtfully chose words which would avoid any lies. This I have always done. I have thousands of posts on SI. I have never said I was a citizen of the U.S. People on SI know where I am from if they have any right to know.
And I demonstrated for his benefit by apologizing on behalf of the U.S. of A. because I knew that he was in the U.S. In point of fact I was apologizing for all people who believe that targeting children in warfare is a policy that should be given some heartfelt thought.
You were not even born when these things happened! You were not a citizen of anything. If citizenship were required to apologize on somebodies behalf then who could do so? How many people were citizens 56 years ago. Not you. So you are not allowed to apologize for anything that you regret in the history of your country or your planet through all of time? What poppycock!! Stop with your phoney set-ups. You are always saying "we" did this or that! HA! You were not even alive!!
I have been extremely careful at all times to use "we" to refer only to the partnership, group, or concept I intended. Generally, I speak of the civilized community, or the western world, or sometimes just Americans which is what I am. If you misunderstand me it is your problem, because I know you are intentionally "misunderstanding" me.
DO WE REALLY HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF A PARTICULAR COUNTRY TO APOLOGIZE ON BEHALF OF ANYONE OR EVERYONE IN THAT COUNTRY, AND IN THE ALLIANCE, AND IN THE WORLD?? DO WE REALLY, JLA??

Get over it, Mr. Dithers. All your posts about this issue are on SI. Some of them are so mean and insensitive they would make a demon weep. Why not just apologize and leave it? I apologised for the entire country. But it does little good for one man to apologize, if people such as yourself only desire to pop your buttons, strut, and mislead. Why not just apologize? First to them, and then to me?
EDIT: and how sincere and honest of you to switch the topic from the fire bombing of civilians 55 years ago to the terrorism we fight today. I will save that as a Phonicon.
The truth is that the United States no longer retains the policy of 55 years ago, as you must have noticed. Maybe it is time for you to look around and realize that western society has made much moral progress. We have a lot to be proud of. Now, if you would simply apologize, it just might gain YOU a little respect in mature company, and something about yourself for YOU to be proud of. Why not just do it?

Why don't you just apologise to me, and to all the inocent people who have died, and to all the relatives of those innocent people who still live? Some of them might be on this thread. Repeat after me:

This latest post to me, Mr. Dithers, is transparent in its vindictiveness and its lack of acknowledgement or concern. Why don't you give your wife a kiss and just let all that hatred slide off your back? There is nothing stopping you from apologising to me, and to them: NOTHING WHATSOEVER.
