That may be your perception but it isn't widely shared. While it is true that Windows XP is the most secure OS MSFT has shipped to date I'm aware of no pronouncements coming from Redmond or elsewhere that nobody need bother with service for the OS. I was pleased to see that the built-in firewall included in Windows XP passes all tests at grc.com with flying colors. Definitely a security plus for the average home user.
