Itanium penetration in servers is actually 1%, according to one of the articles. It's slow, but probably no more slower than when Pentium II Xeon was first released and plagued by a couple of nasty errata. This was back in 1998; I remember it well. Xeon then turned into Intel's most profitable line of products.
