Here is a sunny, mild (25C) and very windy day and the air and sky are full of smoke. Last night three bushfires were burning near central Canberra. I went for an evening walk up to the top of Parliament House and back (yes you can walk right over it). Fire on Red Hill behind parliament and at Yarralumla near the Government House made it hard to breathe up there. Today the fire in the Bruce/O'Connor area has flared up again, I'm about 5km directly downwind from it. Have to close the windows to keep the smoke out, though mostly it is higher up above the ground. Much bigger bushfires are burning throughout New South Wales.
