Re: AMD just closed those fabs and laid everybody off AMD closed two old FABs and discontinued their embedded 486 products. Their embedded K6 business is continuing unaffected. The Legerity and Vantis stuff was not mentioned as being affected in the press releases that I saw. The Legerity and Vantis business has been dropping off since foundry services in Taiwan are being offered at very low prices due to the present glut. AMD doesn't give away FAB services. By the way, Intel is also starting to have some of its chipsets FABed in Taiwan.
