Movies will continue to be shot in film for quite some time, at least those that aren't animations.

Commercial photography is just starting to hit it's stride in digital. It helps that Nikon has finally produced a camera that hits all the sweet spots for the commercial guys. The camera is the same price as a comparable film camera and the file size is big enough to do a double page magazine spread. The issue is that the digital images had to get as good as scans from film, as ALL commercial photography for reproduction is digitized on its way to print so all they had to get was as good as reproduction, not as good as film. Now imagine built in white point adjustment (think mixed lighting situations), gamma control, motion control and no process time or film cost. Commercial photography is headed to digital and far faster than anyone wants to think about.
