Gilbert - ...Give me more details because I can't not understand why the combination of all business investments should not return the average return on shareholder's equity.... Simply because most business startups fail nearly immediately and few businesses survive profitably for more than a few years. Even perfectly formed business plans founder in the face of severe competition. Companies that are suppliers to governmental units may receive special favors that overcome competition, but may not account for the bribes and political contributions necessary to receive them.
