I followed you up to this point:

Any time you divide people into two
classes of unequal standing you are belittling one of them.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by unequal. (Why do you considering having or not having an "imaginary friend" to constitute inequality, anyhow?)

But if i say, for example, that people of wealth pay 26% marginal tax rates and those in poverty pay 13% marginal tax rates (or whatever the rates are these days) that divides people into two classes of unequal standing, but I don't think it belittles either one.

"Someone tell me the difference."

It is not belittling to notice that one person has different genetically linked features than another. It is not belittling to notice that one person is 4 feet tall and is thus shorter than another person who is 6 feet tall. It is not belittling to notice that one person has a different skin color than another.

It is not belittling to notice that one person was schooled in political viewpoints in a different culture.

It is not belittling to notice that one person aquired their world view of human decency in one culture while another person aquired a similar view from another culture.

etc, etc, etc.....

It demonstrates a lack of respect and consideration and is thus belittling to mock one's origin, culture, or world view for no other reason than it doesn't compliment a limited sphere of community, or the agenda of an assemblage.
