Ever heard of the Cold War? Korean conflict? El Salvador? Nicaragua? Afghanistan? Grenada? Many conflicts. All over the world. Each great power often used proxies. But people were dying, all over the world in that struggle. We used our proxies and economic and political force to cause the USSR to fail. In the end we were able to impose our views on the lack validity of communism as an ideology on that country. It ceased to exist. Was that bullying?

I only hope that the countries which replace us as military powers are more considerate of us than we now are of certain less powerful countries.

That seems relatively unlikely. The historical evidence seems to be that most dominant powers have been less considerate then the US has since it became the world's dominant power.
