"OTOH, if you mean that those who believe the earth is round hold a superior position to those who believe the earth is flat, maybe you're right."

I found the book "Black Elk Speaks" to be very revealing. At one point in the history of the wise man Black Elk, someone told him that the world is round. He immediately surmised that this made perfect sense since the Siuox Indian belief is that all things ultimately tend toward or seek roundness rather than the more temporary condition of having sharp edges. He did what I have noticed other wise people do. He took in new information, logically compared it with what he knew about the world and with what made sense rationally. He applied what was available to him as self evidence and made sense according to his belief system and accepted it. If I remember right he didn't use the scientific proof available and typically used for the conventionally superior view of the world.

I see that most people are wise and that believers become enriched as scientific research and discovery brings more and more knowledge and utility to our life's experience. I also see that close minded persons whether believers or scientific zealots are made feable when they refuse to consider the various perspectives and ways of knowing the universe that is available to all people.

I hope for all people that they will seek truth; that they would be open to what is in their hearts as self evident and to listen to the counsel of wise messengers, view creation with an open and studious mind. For any that are sickened through the despotism of low human vanities, I hope justice will ultimately prevail on behalf of all of us and believe that it ultimately will through the fullness of time.

I consider this a superior view to others I have seen and considered. However, I don't know if or why anyone would consider the above statements belittling.
