Brumar89, as I understand, the Israelis occupy 22% of the Gaza Strip with 6000+ people and the 78% remainder of the Gaza has 1,000,000+ Palestinians. Also the 22% in Gaza is some of it's best beachfront property, not some isolated hill country. Maybe the Palestinians think that 22% would be a good place to stick their pizza parlors and shopping malls to service the 1,000,000+ Palestinians who want to use their beach.

Maybe you should go to Gaza before you write. Gaza has about 55km of beach -- all of it the same fine, white sand. The settlements have a couple of kilometers of beach -- most of it attached to a resort in the southern part of the strip.

No sand is worth the lives of people at a disco, a pizza parlor, or a downtown pedestrian mall. If you equate sand with human life, you have a problem.
