You can use the free Zonealarm unless you want to be able to look up who has been attempting to probe your machines. I signed and paid for Pro because I was getting so many probe attempts. Turns out most were coming from my isp , but quite a few weren't and I appreciate the peace of mind I got from knowing who they were.

As far as blocking your son's access to porn sites, I don't think ZA will do that but I'd be surprised if there wasn't a way. I just went through the drill of researching cookie blocking tools to the point I've blocked all cookies from my computer. The only problem with porn sites is there are a lot of them (I've heard) and they link to each other. Rotsa ruck.

Oh, and Happy New Year!

Nasty variation of the badtrans virus showing up this weekend. Attempts to open in Outlook with no prompting. File extension is ".zlo". Make sure your definitions are up to date and you have the highest security set:

Norton Report:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK2\Sorry_about_yesterday.MP3.zlo
is infected with the W32.Badtrans.B@mm virus.
Access to the file was denied.
