Allan: Re: ". Market is still trading below the Dec 6 high and the VIX is dribbling down everyday."

I posted last week, tongue in cheek somewhat, that I thought that the VIX could be at 20 and change at end of month, just like end of June where the same divergence made itself apparent at the halfway mark.

The VIX, since 1997, has basically traded above 20. Prior trading ranges from 12-15, 15-18 and 18-20 were more typical of the times from 1986 to 1997. I've always felt the VIX range was more pertinent than the absolute # and with a breach of 22, that indicates it will trade down to 20.
