That sounds great until you consider that Intel shipped more than 100 million processors this year. And that this was supposed to be the fastest ramp of a new CPU in Intel's history.

Why don't you wait for numbers on Intel's costs and market share before you go declaring victory on that one - and I suppose I should do the same.

But all recent reports indicate that, after spending an unprecedented $15 Billion in two years on plant expansion, Intel is unable to supply its customers with enough CPUs, resulting in substantial additional market share gains by AMD. We'll have to wait for the final numbers, but hints from Asian sources make it look like AMD went from about 22% to 23% last quarter to 26% to 28% market share this quarter - following two years of a huge increase in capital expenditures by Intel.
