Vodafone is tailor made for multi-mode with 1xRTT because of Verizon, as is any carrier with feet in both camps (Telstra, Unicom, and possibly SKT and KTF).

When you add Telefonica into the mix, you are really talking about a great deal of the world's subscribers.

Middleware will be VERY interesting in the Vodafone equation.

It definitely will. I am not yet at the point where I think that VOD will use BREW, but a successful launch by Verizon would do wonders for Qualcomm's chances. Unfortunately, I think they are a little late on BREW....wasnt a Brew enabled color handset from Sharp due sometime in December?

OTOH....the roll-out of 1xEV-DO might actually be a little bit ahead of the schedule I would have predicted at the beginning of the year. It has been a long time since I could say that.
