His old game of lowering expectations wayyyy down and then patting his own back when he beats them 2. He needs an issue to divert attention from his other failures 3. Fear is a good motivator, and makes people afraid of change Remember one thing though : I can support what he's doing in the 'stans and give him a poll driven "approval" rating on that issue, but no way I'd ever vote for him. Every president would prosecute this war. There are lots of others who think this way too, and will, 'specially when they don't have their good jobs any more over the next few years. As for that noxious environmental hacksaw, you can thank Nader for that one. Remember, Bush is no different from Gore. Ralphie said so himself, then his votes gave shrub the chance to take one in the Supreme Court. Norton will meet the same fate as James Watt, just not as fast. She's not quite as stupid, politically, or else she learned from watching his textbook self destruction. She says the right things occasionally to appease her opponents, then goes on her rampages anyway. Once again, it will take people awhile to catch on. Remember when Watt publicly pissed off Nancy Reagan because he wanted to replace the decadent Beach Boy concert with Wayne Newton for that 4th of July show ? I was about to pack up for Europe that day, thinking the government could hardly get more bizarre. Of course, that was before I had to listen to Peggy Noonan's schoolgirl prattle on Larry King.............Oh god help us, what planet are these people from anyway ? These right wingers can be really, really funny, especially when they're not even trying. Then again, they can get pretty destructive, and that ain't so funny. Please pass the arsenic, my water's too clean.
