thecow, you solved a puzzle for me: I have noticed that OE sometimes opens very slowly. Now I realize it's because I had closed down MSN messenger. I've opened OE 7 times just now while messenger was running and it opened fast - as it should.

No CD HP saved a couple of bucks by not including the OS CD. This caused them to lose any future business from me.
I tried to run the SFC /scannow without any luck. Got only a flash DOS screen and that was all.
I had disabled Bill's messenger program. Perhaps I can figure out how to enable it again.
