<Crude-oil supplies rose by 154,000 barrels, the API said, compared to estimates
for a drop of as much as 4 million barrels. But the organization also downwardly
revised its data for the week ended Dec. 14 by 2.74 million barrels, wiping out
the 2.57 million barrel climb reported that week.

The Energy Department said supplies rose by a larger 2.6 million barrels.

Distillates, which include heating oil and jet fuel, fell by 650,000 barrels in the
latest week, the API said, below estimates for a drop of as much as 3 million
barrels. The Energy Department reported a decline of 1.7 million barrels.>

<....gasoline supplies fell by 3.63 million
barrels during the week ended Dec. 21. Victor Yu,
director of consulting at MV Energy, said the market
had been looking for a decline of only as much as 2
million barrels.

The Energy Department also reported late Thursday
that last week's gasoline stocks fell by 3.3 million
barrels.>
