. I was only 11 years old at the time. That just doesn't seem fair, does it?

I take your point. You and I don't have any real responsibility for acts taken when we weren't old enough to vote. Still, we are Americans and we can't ignore official acts taken by our country on our behalf. They are part of our history. If we think that our country made a mistake, it would be a gracious to apologize for what our country's official acts even if we didn't personally participate. We also would have a responsibility to do what we could to keep history from repeating itself.

The terrorists who attacked the WTC weren't performing official acts on behalf of all Muslims. They had no official standing at all. They were pirates, criminals. Muslims have no more obligation to apologize for them than you have to apologize for Charles Manson.

Aw come on, Karen, you're making up these rules as you go.

Of course I'm making it up. Who would have thunk you'd draw a simple little point out so much. I'm being entirely consistent, though, as I elaborate.

Karen
