<Why your Windows should be XP>

I've tried to detect my Rio600 using
Windows Media Player 7.01 on a PC
w/ WinMe, and one with W98; no success.
And I thought that an icon would show
up in the My Computer folder for the device--
nope.

RealJukeBox and the Audible manager (came
with the Rio) both detect the device, and
Windows Device Manager shows the latest driver
in place and working properly. My Rio has the
latest firmware...so it is strange that Windows
itself doesn't seem to see the device.

I'd like to drag and drop files onto the Rio,
just as you would move files around from
folder to folder.

Anyway...
I see that XP comes with WMP 8, I might be
tempted to upgrade since RealJukeBox might not
anymore be very well supported (RealOne is
the latest software) and Audible doesn't
seem to have music on their website.

Any thoughts? Am new to digital audio--have
only had the Rio two days. The idea of putting
a music library on my PC HDD is appealing,
just zap the days listening over to the Rio,
which is a very nice shirtpocket device.

Should I expect XP to do a better job of
showing new USB devices such as my Rio?
