Hey there Gloop... I wanted to thank you for the suggestion and the link you provided last week for the Compaq Internet appliance at Tigerdirect.com... I bought one for my FIL and finally got around to giving it this evening... He doesn't own a PC and I had frequently discussed with him the benefits of being online, but could tell that he was somewhat intimidated by tech.... I got the Compaq appliance ($99, such a deal)....and set it up, tested it, and then gave it to him this evening... It was a huge hit....I could tell he was excited about having an "email address" and being able to surf...He's 78 years old and mostly I wanted to give him another reason to go to his home "office" and spend some time doing productive things and having some fun at the same time. I spent some time showing him a few web sites like Amazon, Ebay, and CNN, Yahoo, etc....saved Google for him, did some searches for things of interest...you could tell he was excited, yet trying to contain his enthusiasm...My guess is that he will purchase a PC within 6 months. I just wanted to thank you for the suggestion and to let you know that there will be a "senior" out there surfing and emailing and instant messaging and generally making life more productive and enjoyable because you took the time to mention it.
