Bills' First Opponent Is Snow

By THE NEW YORK TIMES

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y., Dec. 28 — The Jets
have a 1 p.m. date with the Buffalo Bills
on Sunday at Giants Stadium. They only
hope that the Bills are there.

The Bills, and everyone else who lives in and
around Buffalo, have been bombarded by
snowstorms this week. The latest storm today
left the total snowfall for the week at nearly
seven feet. Amid all that snow are the Bills,
who are confident they can find a way out
Saturday and arrive in the New York
metropolitan area as scheduled.

Scott Berchtold, the Bills' vice president for communications, cited favorable
forecasts for Saturday and said the team believed it would be able to fly its
charter out of the city's main airport. If it cannot, it will look to other options,
like traveling by bus to other airports in upstate New York. Plan C might involve
traveling by bus all the way to the Meadowlands, about an eight-hour trip. The
Bills have also explored the possibility of traveling by train, with Penn Station as
the destination.

Berchtold noted that no Bills player or coach has missed any team meetings this
week despite weather that is bizarre even by Buffalo standards.
